Description:
Victoria, Uniface Pattern Sovereign Obverse Trial, 1863, struck in copper and gilt lightly on obverse, a trial piece engraved by Charles Wiener, young head left with emblematic wreath of shamrocks, rose and thistle in hair, long ribbon ties at rear, C.W below truncation, date below, VICTORIA REGINA, toothed border and raised rim, rev plain, edge plain.

This pattern has the same obverse die as Baldwin's Auction 73, 8 May 2012, lot 95. 

After further research with the Royal Mint Museum. It has been discovered in their collection there are two base metal trials similar to the Bentley pieces. The Royal Mint pieces are catalogued as Sovereign trials.
