Description:
W & R 177, Montagu 556, Murdoch 176

By: Benedetto Pistrucci

Obverse: Laureate head to right, PISTRVCCI in raised letters below truncation. Legend: GEORGIUS III D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D: 1820

Reverse: St George and dragon, W.W.P (William Wellesley Pole) on ground line above broken lance, PISTRVCCI in exergue, at the left.

Edge: In raised lettering: DECUS ET TUTAMEN. ANNO REGNI LX.

A stunning example, the perfect strike with deeply mirrored fields, the devices superbly frosted. Good extremely fine or better. With light hairlines and a few minor contact marks this coin is in superior condition to the Slaney specimen that recently auctioned at Spink.

Extremely Rare, just 25 struck. In fitted case.
