1830 WILLIAM IV PROOF SOVEREIGN
First Bust Possibly Unique. PCGS - Proof 62
Type:
William IV Proof Sovereign
Description:
Possibly unique. Not present in the Bentley collection.
WR 259 First bust (nose to 2nd N of Britanniar). Plain edge.
This is the actual coin that was photographed in "English Pattern Trial and Proof Coins in Gold 1547 - 1968 " by Alex Wilson and Mark Rasmussen, number 259, page 312.
Although rated by W & R with the same rarity as WR 260 (second bust) this first bust is the only example I have ever seen. In comparison there have been many examples of the second bust 1830 proof appearing in previous Spink, Baldwin's and St James Auctions.
Please view my sold coins for and example of the WR 260 (second bust).
